Spiritual Paths Institute Application Procedures

Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in the Spiritual Paths Institute’s degree in InterSpiritual Wisdom.  Below you will find instructions and links to application forms for each of the three student levels (auditor, certificate, and advanced) to be completed and submitted online or by mail.    (If you wish to apply via paper and US mail, please contact us for application materials.)

Application Checklist:

  1. Application Form: Complete the online application form below
  2. Essays and Documentation: Locate your appropriate enrollment option below and prepare the corresponding essays and documents. Please email or mail essays and other documents to the SPI Admissions Office.
  3. Application Fee: Go to the online store (under ‘fees and expenses’) to pay your application fees (You may also do this by phone by calling 805 695-0104).
  4. Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae: Please email or mail these documents to the SPI Admissions Office.
  5. Personal Photo: Send us a recent personal photograph via attachment to admissions@spiritualpaths.net.
  6. Letter of Recommendation: Students must provide one official letter of recommendation.  Please direct recommenders to the link where they can download the official recommendation form, which can be sent to our admissions office via fax or mail.

Application Essays and Documentation:

AUDITOR and CERTIFICATE:

Certificate Applicants should send a five-page, double-spaced written essay demonstrating their preparation, capability, motivation, and purpose (Auditors please submit a two-page essay).  This essay should contain the following elements:

a. Describe your own spiritual biography.

b. Describe your interest in InterSpirituality and in the Spiritual Paths program. Please tell us how you envision that this program will enhance your personal life and professional career.

c. Describe your previous academic, spiritual, professional, and community involvement in a specific spiritual tradition, or in a variety of traditions.

Application Fees and Deadlines

Formal applications must be received at least one month before the beginning of the semester for which you are applying.  Prospective students must submit the application form, essay(s), and a non-refundable $75 application fee to the Office of Admissions by this time. To complete the application file, your official transcripts (advanced applicants only) and recommendation forms should be forwarded directly to the Spiritual Paths Institute by the appropriate parties.

Enrollment

Applicants who have been accepted must submit a registration deposit of $500 within three weeks of their acceptance in order to be enrolled. Should the applicant be unable to participate in the program $250 of this deposit is refundable. Those who are unable to attend the academic year for which they were accepted must submit a new application should they wish to be considered for acceptance at a later time.
